Keller Williams Realty East Valley - Shane Blissett
Who am I?

I grew up in a small farm town in central Illinois. When you’re from a town of 850 people, personal connections and relationships hold more value. When I work with a client, they become a friend.

Leaving the small town life behind, I spent some time in Milwaukee and then moved 2,000+ miles west to San Francisco. During my time in San Francisco, I learned the importance of finding and becoming my authentic self. After a few years, I found myself in Tucson, where I helped care for my ill grandmother. After she passed, I found my way to Phoenix and I’ve been here ever since.

Something I’ve learned is that sexuality and gender identity for many is a journey. It can be as concise as coming out gay or lesbian and finding that is your truth for life. For others, it’s a longer journey. Myself, I came out gay when I was 17. In my early 20’s, I realized that I find some females attractive and redefined myself as bi. In my 30’s, I found myself married to a woman and raising kids. Today, I think I fall into the pansexual camp, as I now realize that I am attracted to people of all genders, regardless of their sex or gender identity.

Who am I in the community?

Early on, I saw a need to build and strengthen OUR community. Born in the 70’s and growing up in the 80’s, I saw my share of discrimination, hate, bullying and I was gay bashed a few times. So when I moved to Wisconsin to attend the Milwaukee School of Engineering, I started their first ever LGBT and Ally Alliance.

Flash forward to the early 2000’s, I helped found and still Chair the Phoenix Gaymers. Starting off as a grass roots community organization, we kept growing until we became a 501c3 non-profit and we now show up and support our local LGBTQIA+ community in various ways. And I spent some time as Program Coordinator at Phoenix Pride, essentially acting as Center Director for the Pride Center.

The LGTBTQIA+ community is everything to me. Every single one of us matters. Regardless of which of those letters we represent, we are ONE family, ONE community. And while I’ve moved out of the community service arena and into focusing on my own business, OUR community is still my driving force.

Why choose a Pride Agent?

As a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I understand the unique challenges and needs that can arise when navigating the real estate market. My mission is to provide a supportive, inclusive, and affirming experience for every client I work with.

As an advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, I can provide additional support and resources, whether it’s connecting clients with LGBTQIA+ owned or allied services. And my connections within the LGBTQIA+ community can be invaluable for folks new to the area.

And being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community myself, I understand the need for confidentiality and security during a major life purchase. As well as understanding the caution and fear that can come, as OUR community still faces discrimination even in the current times.

Whether you’re buying, selling, or looking for guidance, I’m here to support you every step of the way. Let’s work together to make your real estate dreams a reality.

LGBT+ Housing Initiative

The LGBT+ Housing Initiative, available exclusively to real estate agents in the KW Rainbow Network, is committed to encouraging home ownership in the LGBTQIA+ community. Howe ownership in the United States is at 64%, and yet it is only 49% in the LGBTQIA+ community.

As a REALTOR, one way I can continue my personal mission of building OUR community is to give back to help encourage home ownership in the LGBTQIA+ community. If you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I have agreed to donate a portion of my commission to the LGBT+ Housing Initiative.

Here’s how it works. If an LGBT+ homebuyer chooses me as their agent, I will donate 25% of my commission to the LGBT+ Housing Initiative. The 20% will be given back to the client as a grant to use however needed. The 5% will go into a fund that is distributed at the end of each year to organizations in the US and Canada that have a mission to take LGBTQ+ homeless youth off the streets. These are OUR kids from OUR community. And these organizations doing the work need OUR support.
